Middle School
Congratulations to our students and staff for the great gains on PASS (the new state test for PACT) last year, 2008-09. We improved from meeting 14 out of 21 objectives (number of subgroups) to 19 out of 21 objectives. Great job!!!
Congratulations to the Science teachers and students for the following benchmark test results in December:
- 6th grade weather 2nd out of 12 schools
- 6th grade animals 2nd out of 12 schools
- 7th grade human body, 4th out of 12 schools
- 8th grade force and motion, 4th out of 12 schools
Spelling Bee: Our winner is Ronald Sandiford and the alternate is Tess Rightnour. A press release will be out in February featuring the winners and alternates from each school. If you can please go and support them March 9th in the regional competition at Myrtle Beach High School Music and Art Center (Auditorium) at 6:30 pm. Admission is free!!! If our student wins at the regional they will go on to the National Spelling Bee in Washington, DC. Wish them luck!!!! Please congratulate all of our participants and say a special congrats to Ronald and Tess.
We welcome Erskine Johnson back to WPMS.
He was one of the outstanding speakers that joined us for a student program.

Whittemore Park Middle School recently presented the Conway Medical Center Foundation with a check in the amount of $650 which was raised during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October by students and faculty of the school. The students and teachers hosted several fundraisers during the month including Blue Jeans Day and Hat Day, when they could wear jeans or a hat to class if they paid $1.00. The funds will be designated to the CMC Mammography Initiative providing free mammograms to women in Horry County without health insurance or government assistance. Thanks to Mrs. Matthews and Mrs. Rabon for coordinating the event. Mrs. Matthews also made a wonderful bulletin board display that was enjoyed by all.

If you are new to our school, we are located in Conway, South Carolina about 15 miles inland from the Atlantic Ocean and Myrtle Beach.
