This year, 16 Horry County Schools received the Distinguished Arts Program Grant from the South Carolina Department of Education. This grant provides $18,000 to a school for one school year!

HCS formally celebrates the contributions of exemplary Support Staff members through its Support Staff Employee of the Year program.
School and departmental winners were nominated by their peers and eligible to be considered one of five finalists. The 2026 Support Staff Employee of the Year will be named on the evening of March 27, 2025.

South Carolina schools receive descriptive overall ratings of Excellent, Good, Average, Below Average, and Unsatisfactory, based on a 100-point scale. Schools also receive ratings on key report card indicators, which contain information about schools and districts regarding how well students performed on state and national assessments, student growth, graduation rates, English language proficiency, and more.

All students in Horry County Schools will receive free breakfast and lunch during the 2024-2025 school year as part of the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) program.

Whittemore Park Middle School is one of thirteen middle schools within the Horry County School District. We are one of two middle schools serving the community of Conway, South Carolina.
